Last night was the first time I have been left alone with a tiny baby in several years. I had forgotten how exhausting babies can be.
Hubby took Britt, Boy and Boy’s special gal to a ball game last night. It went into extra innings as well (just my luck). Britt stated that this would be the first time she had been away from the baby for longer than 5 minutes. Now I know she’s only one month old, but seriously? She had never even left the baby with her daddy and run to the grocery store? Nope. And the bathroom door stays open while showering.
Traumatic for both of them!
It was smack-in-your-face obvious that this statement was 100% true. Again, I know the Duchess is only one month old and all, and having never been out of Mommy’s sight for longer than 5 minutes is insane, but the truth is that this baby has apparently never been out of Mommy’s arms longer than 5 minutes at a time!
I would pace and bounce and rock that baby until she finally fell asleep and then as soon as I would set her down…BAWLLLLLL!
Do you realize how hard it is to just hold a baby in your arms for five straight hours? No, you can’t clean up the kitchen after dinner. No, you can’t reply to a text message. No, you can’t even go to the bathroom!
Needless to say by the end of the evening my legs were asleep, my back hurt and my arms were like rubber. And yes, I seriously needed to pee. In peace! But guess what? Britt said the baby slept for a solid five hours in a row that night!
Grrrr… evil baby.
