Please Pass the Popcorn

Santa dumped a load on our house this year! It was slightly overwhelming. We actually had to take two intermissions from gift opening in order to get through it all! That’s crazy!

I think everyone got some really good stuff, taking a good chunk off of their lists anyway. Of course, the best part was everyone at one house for the holiday. We tried to hit every tradition. On Christmas Eve we baked cookies and decorated them. We also made s’mores on the outside fire pit and even made Wassail!  (Brit made hers a little more, shall we say…merry).

On Christmas Day everyone was there bright and early for hours of unwrapping. We had a great lunch/dinner with Ham and all the trimmings. We took a few family photos, which doesn’t happen very often and played with all of our new things. There were some very competitive games played on the Wii, a very rousing game of Candy Land and then the Netbooks came out and that was it for quality time for a while. That evening the kids all sneaked off to meet up with friends for a drink while Hubby and I watched Barbie Princess movies with the Scooter. (We pulled out the new popcorn maker and Jr. sized snuggie, too)

On Saturday, we all went out for lunch hitting a great burger and milkshake place then the girls split from the boys for a while. I heard they went tool shopping and stopped off at a bar with scantily clad servers (worse than Hooter’s, I assure you). We girls went to a bridal shop and tried on pretty dresses for the upcoming nuptials of Brit and Jimmy Moon. Scooter had the greatest time with all those ribbons and bows and mirrors. Scooter heaven, I am sure.

Later that evening we enjoyed a wild game of Pass the Popcorn and then topped off the late night with Pictionary. You should have seen some of the artistry this year and, with Jimmy Moon being a newbie, the boys’ team went down in flames!

Clearly too much food, drink and family time, because by the time Sunday morning rolled around, we practically ate our Eggs Benedict in silence, packed up the cars quickly and waved good bye before 10 a.m.

It was a lot of fun. It was exhausting too. By Sunday afternoon, Hubby and I spent an hour or so “finding” the kitchen again. We then soaked in the hot tub and finally plopped down on the couch, in front of football, for the rest of the day. Christmas is great but I sure am glad it only happens once per year!
