Kerri and Marshall

I attended my very first destination wedding. You know the kind where you actually travel outside of the typical American Legion Hall and actually go somewhere interesting. The ceremony was on the beach actually in the sand at a beautiful rented beach house on the shores of the Gulf Coast. (If you have never been to see these beaches, I highly recommend them!) The ceremony was simple in design and classy in execution.

The Bride looked like a Greek Goddess with just enough train to glide over the sand behind her. Her Bridesmaids were fresh in deep eggplant purple cocktail dresses while the Groomsmen kept it simple in white shirts and khaki pants. The Groom wore a tan suit sans the stuffy tie. Everyone was barefoot!

The bouquets were this terrific colorful menagerie of purple ribbons, orange roses and aromatic oriental lilies. The weather was perfect with a soft breeze rolling off the saltwater waves.

The reception immediately followed at the beach house under a giant tent. The catering was amazing! And apparently both sides of the family are incredibly musically talented because there was terrific live music all night. Mandolins, harmonicas, acoustic guitars, you name it, we heard it!

As far as I could tell, there were only two issues all night.  The first was just after the ceremonial cake cutting, the skies suddenly opened up and dumped a bucket of rain on our parade for about thirty minutes, but then quickly cleared up. (I learned later that several cars got a little stuck in the sand, too.) The other issue will unfortunately forever remain as part of the wedding history. The father of the Bride made a toast thanking everyone who participated in the planning of this beautiful day and thanked everyone who attended the festivities. He then congratulated the happy couple – Amy and Marshall. (Amy is the Bride’s older sister)

Congratulations Kerri and Marshall!

Wishing you a wonderful life together!
