Its not nice to fool Mother Nature

Bad Storms blew through the Ham most of Sunday night. We needed the rain, but not the power outages. I was rudely awakened at around 6 a.m. by a crazy loud angry thunder boomer! After that, no more electricity. It’s bad enough getting yourself motivated to get up and go to work on a Monday, but top it off with the fact that you cannot blow dry your hair, you cannot pick out clothes in a dark closet and you cannot slap on make-up without looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show.

I personally am not a coffee drinker, but if I don’t get at least three cups of hot tea in me before making a To Go cup as well, I am not very enjoyable, to say the least.

Then there is the fact that I cannot watch my morning news program to at least catch the headlines and local forecast and perhaps find out if there had been a tornado during the night and I happen to be the only survivor.

So to recap so far, I have not had a shower, my morning hair is in a headband, I’ve got the Joker written all over my face, my shoes don’t match and I’m having a de-caffeinated meltdown while hallucinating I AM LEGEND in a post apocalyptic world.

I manage to locate the purse with my entire life in it and walk out to the garage…and yes, I naturally hit the electric garage door opener and immediately had a “holy shit” moment. Please understand that naïve Kimmer has never had an electric garage door opener before…just having that clicker attached to my visor is an upgrade to my entire life thus far. I love that clicker. But this hiccup never occurred to me until now… How do I get my car out of the garage? Do I honestly have to call my boss and tell him I can’t come to work today, I don’t know how to open the garage door? What a bitch.

I think I am now quite perturbed.

Needless to say, there is a release button on the doors in order to manually open them. Phew! I did make it to work with time to spare, but later that day it dawned on me…the ironic thing here is that I spent several days upgrading my master bathroom and by Sunday afternoon I had finally finished and was all excited to be able to wake up Monday morning and enjoy my hard work. Seems Mother Nature had other plans for me. Nice sense of humor, lady.
