I mean no disrespect to Her Royal Highness, The (former) Princess of Wales. Unfortunately, today is the day she met her untimely demise, twelve years ago. I always liked the Princess. She was Shy Di to most, but an outspoken champion for some. She stood for the destruction of land minds and for a cure for the victims of AIDS. Much to the chagrin of Buckingham Palace, she was not ashamed to show her love and affection publicly for her two young sons or to fulfill her girlish dream of dancing with John Travolta.
Much like Farrah Fawcett’s death was eclipsed by the sudden media blitz of the death of Michael Jackson, Hubby I and shared our Wedding Day with the death of the People’s Princess. Slightly overshadowed by the breaking news, we raised a glass to Diana to say farewell just as we were being wished a long and happy life together.
As it often happens, good things come from bad. As August comes around every year, the news begins its coverage of the anniversary of the death of Lady Diana Spencer. This becomes an instant reminder to anyone who might have a slight lapse in memory of the date of his wedding anniversary. My Hubby is instantly forced to celebrate the day by the global news media.
So raise a glass to toast with us today in wishing everyone a Happy Dead Diana Day!!
