My kids lead much more interesting lives than I ever did! But I’m gonna go ahead and take credit for most of it! Yes, Me! Me! Me! This is MY blog isn’t it?
I tend to push (shove) them into doing things I would never have had the guts to do myself. For example, my youngest, the Boy, picked up a guitar at the age of 14 and started playing. He gathered some friends and put together a band. The band entered a school sponsored talent contest. After coming in second, the band starting booking actual venues and playing in front of all kinds of people. No fear!
Sari is the most malleable. This middle child is so wishy washy and non-confrontational that she can be talked into doing just about anything once. But that’s one of her best qualities. She had the motivation (after I nagged her for a week) to audition for a Hollywood movie and enjoyed a month of being an extra on a real movie set! If you haven’t yet, catch her cinematic debut in the Tim Burton movie Big Fish, (circa 2003, find it on DVD).
Sari also had the great big balls to parade around in a skimpy bikini for several Hooter’s Bikini Contests. Now that’s a ballsy thing to do! No fear!
Finally, Sari and Boy went together to audition for The Price is Right. Unfortunately neither was called from the audience to Come On Down! But they got to spend some quality time hanging out together in the audience and they both checked another fun item off the Bucket List!
I am so jealous or am I envious?
