Everything Old is New Again

September 10th, 2012 · No Comments

I decided to try something new. Pinterest has inspired me
to wake up my boring wardrobe. But the interesting thing is that most of the
outfits posted are gatherings of items I already have in my closet or are incredibly
similar thereto. I just never thought to marry those particular items together?
Maybe I get a few hits, maybe I get a few misses, but at least I’m trying to
break away from my typical jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. I also need to
stop throwing my hair up in a ponytail. It’s so easy to skip a morning shower
and tedious hair blow drying in order to sleep a little past the alarm clock…and
don’t get me started on the daily fight against humidity…

Since I work in a small law firm, just me and 4 (male) attorneys,
these guys only break out of their jeans and tennis shoes on “go to court”
days. No one here cares what I look like or how I dress, just as long as I show
up and help make their lives a little easier. I’m thinking if there was at
least one other female around, maybe she could give me the hairy stink eye once
in awhile or the “I look so much better in that” nose wrinkle every now and
again.

Competition is the mother of style.

I have a lot of clothes. I have a lot of clothes I never
wear. I’m quite certain we ALL do. So, I am going to attempt to use what I
already have in my closet: re-work, re-configure and re-imagine. But as I am
ONLY human, I will invariably add to my collection. But for now, according to
Pinterest, everything old is new again. Maybe parachute pants will make a come back? An 80’s girl can only hope.
