Dinner Theatre

In December, Sari hosted her first family Christmas at her home. She was a bit nervous as we have a lot of “traditions” to abide by. There’s the required blueberry muffins and hot chocolate for breakfast, the full linner (lunch + dinner = linner) including deviled eggs, green bean casserole, either ham or turkey and other random items, normal gift exchange, Dirty Santa game, and the family game of pictionary which is always boys vs. girls. She started off with a bang! The hot chocolate boiled over onto the stove top and settled into the foil liner thingy. Then as she was boiling the water for the deviled eggs, the aforementioned hot chocolate mess caught fire. From another room, I can barely hear a soft “fire”, then it gets a little louder “Fire” and then she is running into the room, “FIRE!!!”. Boy asks, “Do you have a fire extinguisher?” to which the reply is a quick, “No”. So Boy grabs his dog and runs out the back door!!! Hubby and I are laughing so hard we can’t even think as her hubby grabs a dish towel and puts out the small fire. To top off the day, her hubby sets a plastic pan of corn casserole ontop of that same burner and melts the plastic to it.

The house has a lovely aroma of burnt chocolate and plastic for the rest of the day and the deviled eggs took one for the team. But other than that, everything else was great and Sari gets an “attaboy” from the fam.

Last night, Sari hosts another dinner party in honor of her sister coming to visit. She made a lovely spread of Pineapple Chicken Fajitas and home made salsa. And although we teased and gave her a hard time about deviled eggs, everything was great until she finally let on that her rental carĀ got a boo boo…

Sari’s driving record is a WHOLE other story….
