Sadly, this year I turn a very BIG number in (chronological)  age.  I am not feeling too good about it either. I never thought I would live to see such a BIG number.

Convinced I would go out with a BANG at a young age, I just never considered that this day would actually come…

I always wanted to have my very own dreamy lake house. I’ve been decorating it for years in my mind and I’ve even purchased dozens of knick-knacks* that remind me of what a beachy lake house should look like! I am a décor magazine and Pinterest fanatic! The Junk Hunter!

*Note: my husband refers to knick-knacks as “crappie craps” and when I collect yet another “must have” décor item, he lovingly states that I am “crapping the place up, again”.  He is so good to me.

I’ve tried to incorporate these random “must haves” into my regular house interior design, but I don’t live on a lake! Not even within hours of a sandy beach. Depression.

I have wooden oars, nautical ropes, shell bowls, beachy art… you name it, I’ve stuffed it into my someday closet of dreams (warehouse). And then, it happened…

My husband obviously thought it was a very funny idea to find me a birthday present to match my BIG age number. And although it is NOT a house AT the lake it is a house ON the lake. Close enough.

Randy and I started our new adventure on August 2, 2015. We purchased a 1966 Drifter Houseboat (13 X 44 steel hull) docked at Lake Lanier’s Aqualand Marina in Flowery Branch, GA.

“O” Dock is the very last dock in a quiet little cove. Therefore, our Houseboat backs up to a sandy, beachy little area where trees line the edge of the entrance road into the Marina. We also have a lovely view out onto the lake where a small lighthouse juts out from the edge protecting us from too much wake. It is a houseboat, you know… so don’t rock the boat, baby.  Rock on with your bad self!
