And so good for you

Is it me or is everyone tired of the ridiculous ad campaigns touting everything under the sun as being good for you?

Remember back in the day when men donning clean white lab coats claimed that Lucky Strikes were the brand recommended by more doctors?

Have you seen the Kraft Jello Brand instant pudding boxes on your grocer’s shelves promoting “Calci-YUM! A good source of calcium”? Did you notice the fine print that reminds us that the actual calcium is provided by the milk you have to mix with it?  Here’s a tip, just drink the milk and leave out the empty powdered calories.

This past weekend, I was feeling exceptionally naughty and bought myself a big bag of Lay’s original potato chips and a jar of French Onion Dip to sow down on while watching my Crimson Tide mow over Ole Miss. The label on the dip had a large picture of a heart on it. I am certain that the monosodium glutamate and sodium polyphosphates will keep my heart healthy. Just like Cheerios will lower my cholesterol by at least four points if I eat it religiously.

Well, now I’ve decided to just top off my healthy diet with a great big hunk of dark chocolate. Man do I feel good!

Whew! After all of that nutritious and delicious food, I need a cigarette.

Don’t forget–you did not eat that by yourself but I do believe we have improved– by eating the “healthy” french onion dip with the chips
