An extension of time

March 31st, 2011 · No Comments

March has been unexpectedly busy with way too much family required obligations and extended family quality time. I am seriously ready for April showers and staying in with no events to attend.

This past weekend, we drove to the ATL to visit with some of Hubby’s extended family. It’s always a treat to show up and find out who the newest addition to the family is this week or who was categorically eliminated since the last visit. You might think I am kidding, but I assure you, I am not.

The challenge is to try to keep up, but we live in Alabama so we may miss out on a few of the comings and goings. For example, I understand Aunt Debbie has collected another new “child” to care for. (She’s a collector of other people’s children and dogs). We did not meet her at this outing because she may or may not have run away already.

We did, however, get to meet Aunt Debbie’s newest grandson and spend time with the granddaughter who are both the same ages as my grandchildren. Therefore, this trip we took Sari, Scooter and Scout along for the experience. It was unfortunately cold and the day was spent outside at a State Park, but the two 6 year old girls got to play together (and did quite well for really not knowing each other very well) and the two 1 year old boys…well…they got to sit in their mother’s laps and kind of sneer at each other from across the picnic tables. Hey, what else do two 1 year old boys do?

All in all, I’ve spent time with my extended family this month, Hubby has spent time with his extended family this month…so next month… lazy, stay-at-home, go nowhere, do nothing, selfish Kimmer and Hubby time.

Sure, we shall see how long that lasts!
