Scooter pranced in her very first beauty pageant last week. It was school sponsored and the entire event took place in the elementary school’s cafeteria. Not a true Toddlers and Tiaras extravaganza, but the competition was fierce!
Scooter’s second grade class was the largest group…go figure…with 19 future princesses sparkling and shining like stars in a clear night sky. There were feathers, gemstones, ruffles galore and dresses in every color from classic white to red hot red. Scooter was a stunner in turquoise blue.
My favorite part was the girls’ “statistics”. One young thing stated that her favorite foods were spaghetti and cookies and another claimed her favorites were pancakes and neck bones…only in Alabama. Not to be out done, my goofy granddaughter
proclaimed carrots and tomatoes were her favorites.
Some girls already decided their future careers: there were several doctors, teachers and missionaries…yes, we are in the Bible Belt. And to top it off, some had to proclaim their school allegiance. Scooter said she will attend the University of Alabama.
Scooter did not win a ribbon this time, but all future princesses receive a tiara. I think she did really well and I’m pretty sure one or more of the judges were from Auburn. She definitely had the “wave” down pat. Above the pearls and below the brim. Always a Princess to me.
