A Ginger Easter

I am totally exhausted! Far too much “family time” for one weekend! Phew! Got up at 7 am (on a Saturday!) in order to attend the first T-ball Game of the season. Boy Scout is on the Cardinals and he is #2.  Imagine combining football, soccer and baseball all into one game. Yes, 3 year olds TACKLE the ball and each other; numerous pile ups and random dirt angels in the infield!  Most ball caps were filled with dirt and most gloves were on their heads. You cannot be in a bad mood and watch these kids play ball. But those coaches deserve a round of applause for their patience and attitude!

Then Scout was ours for the rest of the day as Mommy and Sissy went off to have a “girl day” to get ready for the big pageant that night. They got their nails done and their hair done, etc… Dress rehearsal was at 11 am and the event, Miss Spring Beauty 2013, was at 7:30 pm.

We took Scout to eat lunch and went to a movie – Wreck It Ralph (he picked it); then home for a little afternoon nap, dinner, another clothes change, (home destruction – he can trash a room in 30 seconds flat), and off to the High School auditorium by 7 pm where we were to meet back up with Scout’s parents.

This pageant was running long. Scooter’s age group (8 and up) was supposed to start at 7:30, but didn’t start until almost 9 pm. She was the 2nd contestant on stage, so I video’d her; we passed off Scout to his Dad and then hit the road. We still had to buy a ham and other items to prepare for Easter Dinner.  (Scooter was also contestant #2 that night and won a medal and a trophy for “Miss Personality”.)

Sunday morning, we got up by 9 am and put the ham in for baking, made mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, etc… packed up the car and took it all to the kids’ house. Boy and his significant girlfriend had to both be to work at 5 pm, so we ate dinner, sang Happy Birthday to both Hubby and Boy, opened presents, ate cake and ran for the door all within 2 hours time!

Hubby and I got home and we watched the final episode of The Bible on the History Channel then fell asleep. I thought for sure it was an April Fool’s joke when he woke me up at 8 am for work on Monday morning.

I need a weekend from my weekend!
